No scalpel & no stitches!
Developed by Dr. John Chao, Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation is a non-surgical method for treating gum recession.
Most surgeries require a tissue graft and long recovery times; However, the pinhole technique is something else entirely.
This technique involves using a very small needle to gently loosen your gum tissue, moving it down over your exposed root structure. It’s that simple.
- No invasive surgery
- No scalpel & no stitches
- Speedy recovery
- Long-lasting results
We’re proud to offer this revolutionary and natural pinhole technique for treating gum recession in our Sandy Springs and Midtown Atlanta offices.

Why do gums recede?
When your gums are healthy, they fit snugly around the visible part of your teeth. However, you may notice your gums pulling away (or receding) away from their natural line, exposing the root below. Roots don’t have a protective enamel coating, so exposing them often leads to sensitivity, decay, and further damage.
There are a few reasons why you may be dealing with receding gums. Most often, there are a combination of factors at play, including:
- Gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis)
- Grinding and clenching
- Forceful brushing
- Accident or injury
What to expect during your pinhole gum procedure
This process usually takes about 90 minutes, but your exact treatment time may vary depending on your specific needs. Throughout the pinhole gum procedure, our team will make sure you feel completely comfortable — there’s no cutting and no stitches required!
After the treatment is completed, you may have a bit of swelling or some tenderness. Most of our patients just need over-the-counter pain medication to manage their comfort.
In about 24 hours, the small laser entry point in your gums will have healed and swelling subsided. You’ll be back to your normal daily activities in no time.
Everyone was nice, professional and able to answer any questions I had. If you want people who are passionate and care about your wellbeing, look no further.
